July Newsletter

July 7, 7:30pm
Quimper Grange
1219 Corona Street (End of Sheridan)

Wednesday, July 7th, Quimper Grange will present a talk by local
cook and homemaker, Fran Post who will introduce beginners to
the fine art of food preservation. Fran will explain and demystify
the four basic methods of food preservation as well as discuss the
best methods for various types of produce. Food preservation is a
simple activity that anyone with a few pieces of equipment can do
and Fran will provide suggestions and some recipes for the
preparation of common fruits and vegetables in our food-shed. She
will also have hand-outs which include safety information, websites
and resources as well as some samples of canning equipment.

Fran has been preserving and cooking healthy, nutritional and delicious food for 40 years. “I
believe that knowing about and controlling the kinds of food that you eat is one of the healthiest
activities anyone can do for themselves and the planet.” Fran lives in Port Townsend with her
husband Dan where their garden was recently featured on the Secret Garden Tour.

The program starts at 7:30 pm and is preceded by a potluck dessert/fingerfood social half-hour from
7pm to 7:30pm. Suggested donation: $5-$10. For further information contact: Charlotte Goldman at
