Summer at Quimper Grange Food Bank Garden
Volunteers Always Welcome! Last year there were three food bank gardens: one at Port Townsend HighSchool, one at Mountain View Commons, and one at Quimper Grange; this year, however, there will be just one: the Quimper Grange Food Bank Garden.
Fall 2015 - UGN "Day of Caring" work party |
The garden has come along way since 2013! |
Volunteers have been working hard to make this one garden produce as much food as possible. The next big projects will be dismantling and reassembling the Mountain View Commons hoop house, creating a service yard, and adding a much needed covered vegetable cleaning area. There is also a need to finish spreading wet cardboard and chips along the outside of the fence to keep weeds from encroaching; and, on a weekly basis; planting, hand watering seedlings, weeding, harvesting and delivering.
If you have some time you can dedicate toward helping with one of the upcoming projects or want to help out on an ongoing basis please Call Jo (774-6618) or Emily (517-231-1332)

June
1st 7:00 Old Time Jam
(Last Jam 'til Sept)
The last Quimper Grange Old Time Jam of the season will be led by Brendan Hohmann whose band, Conway West played for a square dance described this way: ”These ain’t the
squares with frills and ruffles or the ones you learned in PE, these are old
time traditional southern squares”. Brendan plays both square dance music and crooked-y tunes. He will be teaching Little Rose in the key of C. As usual at our jams he will break it down for easy learning. Most of the tunes we will play are in C and G. We might play some in D or A too.
Our jams are participatory so come with an instrument and join the fun! We encourage bringing cookies or other snacks to share and to kick in a couple of bucks to help pay to heat the hall. Any questions? Call Marla at 360-385-6924
