November 2019 Quimper Grange News

Getting Ready for 100!

In 2020 Quimper Grange will turn 100, and we are planning several events to celebrate!
Stay tuned!

We've been fixing up the building and grounds: new paint in the kitchen and hall ceiling; painted the floors of the kitchen and large bathroom; reorganized, remodeled and painted the storage closet, installed a new locking mailbox; and changed the layout of the garden. A big thanks to all our volunteers!  Barbara, Bill, Doug, Ed, Farren, Kathy, Michael, Sam, Sheila, and Tracy.

We will be painting the inside of the hall in November.  Send us an email (quimpergrange@gmail.com) if you'd like to lend a hand!

11/4 6pm Howard Rains art show

7pm Spencer and Rains  Texas and Kansas fiddling

Spencer & Rains are known for their twin fiddle harmony, which is a product of the influence of midwestern Scandinavian fiddlers Tricia heard as a child.  At the same time,  Howard’s distinct repertoire reintroduces listeners to the pre-contest styles of Texas fiddling. That same sense of harmony is in their vocals, as well, which they pull from all manner of American folk music. Both multi-instrumentalists, they are steeped in tradition and are dedicated to the preservation, performance, and teaching of old time music. $15-$25 sliding scale

The group they founded in the mid-‘80s, The American Café Orchestra, was an international trio serving up a mix of swinging dance tunes, reimagined traditional melodies, and striking, outside originals. This duo concert will feature Morten and Ruthie’s original music that draws inspiration from the traditions of America, Scandinavia, the Middle Ages, and beyond.  $15-$25
