Food Bank Garden News

Many supporters of the Quimper Grange are unaware that this Grange supports a 7,000 sq ft food bank garden directly behind the Grange hall which is now one of twelve (!) gardens belonging to the Food Bank Growers network. The Grange provides the land, water and electricity to keep this garden vibrant and growing - ALL the produce grown here is donated to the food banks and other similar entities to enhance food security in our area.

Quimper Grange FB Garden has donated produce and starts of vegetables and herbs to our South County neighbors in Brinnon, Coyle and Quilcene. One food bank customer said, “When these starts produce more than my family can eat, I’ll bring the veggies back to the food bank to share!”. A wonderful testament to the power of community working together.

Surprise! Although the summer crops are just now starting to come in, it’s already time for us to plan what we’ll grow in the fall and through the winter. This is a committed and productive garden even in the depths of winter. Come join the team any time Tues or Fri afternoons, 1:00-4:00 to have fun, learn about gardening, support your community, and share in a worthwhile experience. Contact FoodBankGrowers@gmail.com to volunteer at this, or any of the other 12 Food Bank Gardens.
